Concept Maps

This is the concept map that I created using kidspiration 2.  Kidspiration is an excellent tool for teachers to use that makes making concept maps much easier.  The concept map is also interactive and has several web links through out the different categories listed.  Because I am going to receive an endorsement in social studies I based my map on World War 2.  All of the clip art that you see on the concept map was already in kidspiration and their library is full of clip art that can be used in all subject areas.  I think that this will be a tool that I use in my classroom in the future because it is so versatile.

NETS-T - because the concept map is interactive it fits this standard perfectly and allows for the students to develop creative thinking

Introduction

Hello Blog World,
I guess I should probably tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is H Kavanagh and I'm an elementary education major at The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Park campus.  This is my first semester in the elementary education department and I'm so excited to get started this semester.  I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to technology but I do know most of the basics.  I'm proficient in Microsoft Office and due to the fact that I changed my major from Interior Design recently I am also proficient in Autocad and Photoshop.  Currently I am not aware of what grade level I want to teach because I have worked with all ages at some point over the year, I'm waiting until I've been in the classrooms more over the next few semesters to see where I fit best.  After teaching for a few years I plan to go back to school for my masters degree to either become an administrator or teach in an upper level school.  I'm excited about the use of technology in the classroom, I believe it opens up many different oppurtunies to teach children through the use of online activites and resources.
